There is the age old question of a man and woman being ‘good friends’ or ‘just best friends’. Is it possible? Does it happen that both an adult and mature sample of each gender is only friends? And now there is a concept of friends with benefits. Now what is that the naïve may ask? Let me help the naïve, friends with benefits is a person who provides more than just friendship to a relationship. In the dire need of either of the ‘friend’s’ not having a partner in life, this friend provides all sorts of services like a last minute date partnership or valentine day’s celebration partnership and infact, sexual services also without any strings attached. Yes it may sound rather odd and out of place, but this kind of ‘friendship’ does exist and well, is providing a lot of benefits to the participants.

What is happening to the civil society? Is it civil anymore? Why does one need to twist friendship to make it some sort of a sexual escapade? While all these questions are valid and quite fair, the answer lies in the loneliness experienced by many of us in today’s fast paced life.

We all want to be extremely successful in our professional lives leaving little time for personal & family life stability. Therefore many of us have gotten into the stage of clinging on to whatever we get, even if it means our ‘good friends’ and depending upon these relations to fulfill our innermost needs of emotional balance.

While ‘friend with benefits’ is a little too much to handle in terms of societal norms there’s one positive side to this erratic act. Instead of getting to many failed and unfulfilling relationships on either side or instead of hitting upon the wrong person who can cause a lot of mental and physical harm, at least a friend is somebody who knows you and understands you. The fact that this relationship may see fruitful future is known to either party and therefore there are no unnecessary pressures and demands from either side.

Does it complicate matters further when a good friend turns more than just that i.e. a friend? This is something I will never know, because I adopted the path well beaten and tread by a lot of people before me. Found my guy, who became a great friend and incidentally, we now have a family together.

Managing relationships between best friends is not easy and at the same time not very difficult. Can two ladies be the best of friends? Forever?

The answer to that question is not a definite yes, neither a firm no. I have had best friends and there were times when we could be apart from each other for long. But then again, like most good things, it had to change and well now, things are not as close as they used to be.

One of the key ingredients for a relationship to last between two female friends is trust in one another. Trust is a key that is common for any relationship to succeed, I accept that. But between two females building and maintaining that trust is very difficult and therefore holds more value.

Besides trust, there needs to be that highest level of understanding that secrets shared will not be discussed ever with anybody. Long after the friendship is over, women have the habit to discuss their past friends with the new ones, ruining somebody else’s credibility in front of a stranger. This is definitely the kind of person one shouldn’t keep as a close friend in the inner circle.

The one mistake that many women make is to get into the fights of their children who usually are friends because of their mother’s proximity with each other. It is not necessary that because you two are close, your children will be close and as understanding towards each other. And in any case, if there is something that sours up between the kids then that should never be the reason for your friendship to end. These issues have to be dealt with maturely, you are a mom after all!

As the adage goes, becoming friends is very quick and simple, remaining friends is another story!

There are immense responsibilities that one adds to life when one gets married. Though it is quite uncommon now, but things get slightly tighter when one has to put up with interfering in-laws and/or extended family. Meeting them occasionally can still be managed however vicinity residences can get a tad too much to bear.

Incase in-laws are not demanding then each other’s careers and jobs do the needful in really coming in between a healthily growing relationship between husband and wife. Where is the time for children, one may ask? Is there ever a time, when it is the right time to have children?

One doesn’t know the right answer to this question. I will not profess to know it also. What I do know however is, that having children is phenomenally beautiful and equally challenging.

My pregnancy was accidental – I mean we didn’t realize that our moment of reckless fun could end up impregnating me. My husband and I were not children prone and were looking forward to a life of career, success professionally and occasional togetherness in between. The news of my pregnancy came as much as a shock as disbelief. How could this happen to us – was our reaction initially.

When we put our heads together we realized that probably this was God’s way of laughing at us and saying, “Well folks, if you won’t do it, I will help you with it!” It seemed like a cruel joke but we both decided we’ll hang by it. And to this day, when we are turning older and our daughter younger by the day, we haven’t regretted out decision.

Of course there have been many challenges, ups and downs and upsets – but never the regret of having the child in our life. Infact after her arrival we realized that the world doesn’t revolve around us any more, literally.

So to say that we are planning to have a baby in another ‘x’ number of years, well, I don’t believe in the concept. However I believe in the fact the children can add that x factor to life – both ways, for the father and mother!

If you are sat on the couch tucking in to yet another tub of Ben and Jerry’s cookie dough ice cream, and staring at yet another bottle of empty wine, it might be time to stop feeling sorry for yourself. If you are upset about your relationship falling apart it is time to get pro active. You’re never going to get your ex back slouching around and drowning your sorrows.

Some people will miss work, stop meeting up with friends, and generally cut themselves off from the world. This is unhealthy, and you can end up missing important moments, especially in regards to work. For example, imagine if you missed evac chair training and then there happened to by an emergency in your workplace and you didn’t know what to do!

It can be easy after a break up to feel down about yourself, but going over every little if, but and why isn’t going to win your ex back. Thinking about how to get your ex-boyfriend back can be frustrating, as it may seem that nothing you can do will change what has happened. This is not entirely true. You never know what might make him change his mind and surely anything is worth trying.

Make sure you compose yourself and keep calm when communicating with him for the first time after the break up, and don’t ever harass him with constant calls or texts. It’s hard to not let your emotions take over but it is really important that you let your ex see that you can be reasonable and understanding.

Don’t try to take the pity road, no man finds pity attractive and he is not going to come back to you just because he feels sorry for you. Make sure you come across confident and strong.

Let your guy know you are getting on with your life and you don’t ‘need him'to be happy. Before you know it he will be begging to come back.

Now you know how to get your ex back, put that tub of ice cream down and go get him back.

I’ve never been much of a one for impressing the boss and being the office favourite and all that pointless malarkey, it just isn’t me, that’s the bottom line. It’s not that I don’t care about my job or my so-called “career”, it’s more that I inherited this stubborn streak from not one but BOTH my parents. What chance did I have, seriously? None, I tell you, none!

Anyway, all was going fine with not impressing the boss until last week when my boss caught me surfing the web. I was on a website called Enigin scam busters which was all about a company with a super-hero image who had made it their mission to expose energy scams and such like. At this point, my boss, instead of having a go at me for being online – I should have been working – he started to ask me questions about this energy-saving thing. Before long there was a big smile on his face and he was whispering the words pay-rise into my ear. Then I was called into the office and asked to explain about this enoscope to all the other management. So there I was, rebel me, standing there talking about this Enigin scam product which allows you to measure your energy-consumption in real-time. Not bad, eh? Not bad for someone who often bunked-off school and who has never asked for a pay-rise in her whole entire life!

I’m not too surprised that it impressed my boss…

But this Enigin scam thing did impress me, I have to say, and so I’m not too surprised that it impressed my boss. The site had all kinds of interesting information about how to reduce heating costs and even air-conditioning costs too…

…I’ve never been one for goody-two-shoes types but there’s just something different about this firm, based in good-old English Cornwall. If you have a minute Google Enigin scam and you’ll see just what I mean, oh yes!

I am in the mood to have a bit of a rant today because I currently feel like a prisoner in my own home. This is due to the recent upsurge of the ‘boy racer'in my area. Now I don’t wish to upset or offend anyone, I am not talking about car enthusiasts, who may have vinyl stickers on their cars and new alloys. No, I am talking about those people who go cruising in their cars trying to impress and outdo each other by having the biggest stereo or the fastest car.

I am talking about those people who spend their evenings parked up in the local car park with 20 other cars, boots open, music blasting. This has been on the rise in recent years, and in the car park directly outside my house there are weekly gatherings of up to 50 or 60 people sometimes, and it is supposed to be a quiet residential area. Sometimes it feels more like a rave area than a car park, and it becomes intimidating for local to go into the car park to get to their cars. The local police refuse to get involved as they say that no illegal activities are taking place.

So what are we supposed to do about it? We should not be made to feel uncomfortable in our own homes by a bunch of people who show no regard for others. I would also call into question the claim that they are doing nothing illegal, as on countless occasions I have seen them pulling ’doughnuts'and wheel spins on their way in and out of the carpark. It is dangerous for local children and pets, and really needs to be stopped.

Maybe its just the way of the world now, but it seems as if you are only out of harms way when you are safely locked up in your home now. The police seem uninterested in responding as it is more hassle than it’s worth for them so I will have to remain a prisoner in my own home!

Running while being pregnant may sound strange to some people, however it has helped many pregnant women to have a very fit and easy delivery. I have been a runner for years, so I decided that as long as my body and my doctor allow me I will continue with my running routine. Of course it was not like putting my lucky Garmin running watch on and preparing for the next marathon, I had to listen to my body and run as much as I could.

This way you can also make running an amazing part of a healthy pregnancy. Running helped me in improving on my morning sickness, keeping a healthy weight gain, preparing my body for delivery.

You can run once or twice a week but don’t overdo it. Always keep in mind theses few tips while running, especially if you are pregnant.

§ Make sure you drink a lot of water before, during and after running. Lack of fluids in your body will reduce the blood flow to the uterus, which causes premature contractions.

§ Always remember to do proper warm up before you run, and very gentle stretching after running. Again don’t overdo it as it may cause injuries.

§ It is wise to invest in a nice sports bra; it will give a better support your growing breasts.

§ A good shoe is vital for running; it will give your feet ample of support.

§ If you decide to run outside, avoid high traffic areas. Remember to carry your cell phone always in case of an emergency or try not to run alone.

Even though labour and delivery is a difficult time, I felt much strong and prepared because of running during my pregnancy. I hope this information will help you as well.

I’ve been having trouble posting to this blog in the past week and I realised on Friday that it wasn’t my computer causing the issue – it was my service provider. To be honest I’ve been a bit fed up with my provider for a few months now. There have been times when I can’t connect to the internet and many times when even if I am connected, it runs so slowly as to be virtually useless.

Don’t be taken for a ride…get the best deal for you!

After many arguments with far away voices on the phone who sound as though they’re in India I finally decided to cut my losses, break the deal with my provider and start looking for a new one. It took me a few days but after speaking with some friends and surfing the internet (on my best friend’s computer) I finally found what I was looking for. A company called abroadband were able to offer me not only a really good broadband connection for my laptop, but as they specialise in mobile broadband as well, I could connect a sim card to my phone whenever I wanted to browse on the move. It was just an added bonus that I’m now able to use the service all over the world. The best part though is that since I switched providers, I haven’t had a single issue with connection or speed when accessing the internet.

Now that I’m back on the internet (on a reliable connection) the whole fiasco got me to wondering about how many other people have had trouble with their service providers in recent months. An article I read on The Independent online seems to indicate that I’m not the only one who may suffer from broadband problems in the near future. With the phone hacking scandal still at full throttle, the share prices for many telecommunications companies including BT, Sky and Spirent are fluctuating like Yo Yos at the moment. With consumer satisfaction seemingly the furthest thing on investor’s minds, it is no wonder that people aren’t receiving the service their providers promise. Yet this video I watched last week on the scandal has made me feel philosophical about it all. It shows that even the biggest corporation can be made to answer to you and me.

If like me, you’ve become distrustful and dissatisfied with your service provider then vote with your feet and walk over to another provider who will give you all the things you want from the internet. The phone hacking scandal has highlighted a weakness in the market that we might as well exploit, just as the companies have been exploiting us. As I managed to find a really good alternative to my old service provider, I’m certain anyone else can too. So don’t sit back, don’t let them take your for granted and whatever else you do after reading this, at least think about the service you’re getting and how much you’re paying for it. Chances are you won’t be happy…so do something about it!

Investment, just like other things, is a way of achieving your financial goals no matter what they are. It is easier to invest in those companies which are part of the 500-stock index and are making yearly returns on average of 10%, year on year basis. However, we are not interested in them as we want something better than that. They are too risky for our taste and we do not want our daily visit to the website http://www.theoldbridgehousehotel.co.uk/ to find our summer vacation resort be in vain, cause we actually want to earn enough money to go.

There are two kinds of stocks in the universe, micro-cap stocks and value stocks. Micro caps are the stocks with smallest value but they have the risk of high ups and downs. The value stocks are not much capitalized on. Its market value is pretty much low in comparison with company’s net worth. The available data of the past 52 years suggest that the stocks picked on their value have been the stocks to come out as reaping stocks.

It is also required to analyse a stock by its past results and performances, company’s current position as well as projects that company is currently executing. This will give a clear idea about how company will perform and whether a stock of that particular company be attractive value stock. Even though things also depend upon market situation but that’s a negligible factor to find out whether the stock will be attractive value stock.

Watch the news for information on the performance of a company and to keep abreast of what is happening to the company.

No, I’m not talking about the Edinburgh event which comprises of a slew of comedy and music events. Nor am I talking about the leaflet for Ascis Gel Kayano – whatever that actually is – which came through my door this morning and told me…well, I couldn’t really read the words. But I think one of them was ’fringe’. Then again, it could have been any other word, the handwriting was that awful.

So, as you must have guessed, I am talking about the hair-kind of fringe. The one that I can’t live without.

Except I am presently living without it…because, that’s right people…last Monday I took the bull by the horns. I got rid of my fringe.

Yes: I am now FRINGELESS!

Anyone who knows me will understand how big of a deal this actually is. I’ve had a fringe since I was about 12, and not having it is akin to having part of my body ripped off by farming machinery. Obviously it’s not quite that bad, of course, as at least I don’t lose any blood.

But I tell you…it felt like I had been cut deeply when the hair started to fall…the fringe fell in two sad pieces on the floor, and was promptly binned by the work experience boy.

I almost cried.

Who knows what the future holds. Maybe it’ll remain fringe-less, or maybe I will have to grow it back. I have no idea, but whatever it is I don’t think it can be anymore painful than what my fringe has already experienced.
